WADDINGTON -- State police have charged a Waddington man with driving while intoxicated following a property damage accident on June 21.
Police say Chad Kirkey, 39, was traveling north on Oak Street operating a gray 2014 Dodge Ram when he lost control of the vehicle, exiting the roadway and striking a pole and a parked vehicle in the lawn.
Police say Kirkey was medically evaluated and he signed on for further evaluation.
Upon further investigation, Kirkey was determined to show signs of impairment, leading to field sobriety tests that he failed, police say.

Kirkey was arrested and transported to SP Massena for processing where he was charged with first-degree driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with a BAC over .08% and other vehicle and traffic violations.
Kirkey was released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Waddingoton Court at a later date in July.
