To the Editor:

Democracies, even in the best of times, must guard themselves against those who wish to steal from our national treasures to add to their own self-enrichment. Unfortunately, Speaker Johnson has put Congress into recess all too often, to safeguard the powerful and greedy from accountability. Thank goodness that we have a dedicated public servant in Blake Gendebien, who is as eager to work for We the People as the Speaker is to close the doors of Congress.

At present, Congress is not standing up for the everyday taxpayer. By its willful and continued inaction, Congress has enabled the executive branch to pilfer and extort billions upon billions upon billions of taxpayer dollars to launch and profit from its unprovoked war of aggression against Iran.

Worse yet, we're still wasting taxpayer dollars galore to support counterproductive acts of aggression. Instead, we should be investing our pooled resources into infrastructure for our district, plus the overall health and well-being of our nation.

Ironically, every visit to the gas pump offers a stark reminder that the misuse of taxpayer money has drastically increased - rather than reduced - the high cost of living. The "Day One" promise has proven to be nothing but a sham.

Please vote for Blake Gendebien and for a more vibrant future for our district and country.
