WADDINGTON — State police arrested Tyler D. Sweet, 32, of Massena, for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Feb. 14.
Troopers said that on Feb. 14, at around 4:50 a.m., they observed a black 2003 Ford Escape traveling on State Highway 37, in the town of Waddington.
Troopers conducted a search of the registration, which showed the plates were reported stolen.
State police said they initiated a traffic stop, interviewed the driver, who was identified as Sweet.
Sweet also had a warrant out of Ohio, state police said.
He was taken into custody and during the safety search, troopers located a glass smoking device containing drug paraphernalia.
Sweet was arrested and transported to SP Massena for processing.
He was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Waddington Court for a later date in March.
Massena Police Department was aware of the traffic stop and the recovery of the stolen plates.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Due to the location of Sweet, Ohio Police Department did not want to extradite the warrant, state police said.
