CANTON – A St. Regis Falls man was found guilty in St. Lawrence County Court Oct. 27 for a 2019 vehicle assault.
St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary Pasqua announced that Christopher Mousaw, 59, was unanimously found guilty after a jury trial for Assault in the First Degree – Intent to Cause Serious Injury with a Dangerous Instrument, a Class B Felony.
The Honorable Derek Champagne presided over the trial.
The defendant was remanded to the St. Lawrence County jail pending sentencing, which is scheduled for Dec. 14.
The defendant faces a minimum sentence of 5 years and a maximum sentence of 25 years with the New York State Department of Corrections.
This conviction arose from an incident that occurred in the early afternoon of Sept. 12, 2019, when the defendant intentionally hit another individual with his car, and caused him serious physical injury.
DA Pasqua thanks the New York State Police for their investigation and assistance with the prosecution.
DA Pasqua further stated that he is proud of the hard work of his team including Assistant District Attorney Alexander Nichols, Assistant District Attorney Dillon Bullard, and the staff that supported them throughout.
