CANTON -- Rusty Austin Todd, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024, at the age of 51.

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love.

Born in Canton, New York on June 19, 1972, Rusty was the son of Richard and Mary (Durham) Todd.

He graduated from Canton Central School in 1991.

Rusty had many different jobs within construction from building houses to highway road paving and everything in between, during which he made lasting friendships and earned the respect of colleagues.

Rusty's true passion was his family. He married Kathy (McDowell) in July of 2003 and within their union they were blessed with their daughter, Morgan. Rusty was a devoted father who loved spending as much time as he could with his Monkey. They enjoyed their time together driving around quizzing each other about different songs and artists, cooking, camping, riding 4 wheelers and all-around enjoying life in the outdoors.

As many of us would say Rusty was a gypsy soul that loved to move around. He never liked to stay in one spot for very long and in 2008 he moved to Idaho with help of his dear friend, Jill to work within the construction industry.

On his birthday in 2008 he met his wife, Christina. They married on New Years Eve 2011 and made their home in North Carolina and later back in Idaho.

Rusty will be deeply missed by his wife of 12 years, Christina; his daughter, Morgan; father, Richard; sister, Joye (Jim), and brother, Mickey (Wendy); mother and father in laws, Esther, Ted, Mike, and Sue; sister in laws, Jackie (Jeff) and Cheyenne (Ty). He is also survived by his nieces, Nikole (Andy), Rylyn, Makayla, Josey, and Gracie, nephews, Wyatt and Ryan, bonus daughter, Rachel (Zach), bonus sons, Trae (Kelly) and Gabriel, and three bonus granddaughters, Layla, Lynleigh and Gracie.

Rusty was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; nephew, Ryan; grandparents, Evelina, Rollie, Austin and Flossie.

A celebration of Rusty's life will be held on July 27, 2024, at 12:00 pm at The White Silo at the SapHead Complex, 5355 County Route 27, Canton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, a cause Rusty cared deeply about.

Rusty's legacy of love, integrity, and dedication to family will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
