Randy Gotham, 63, Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG -- Randy Gotham, age 63, of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024, under the care of St. Lawrence Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Frary Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 10:00AM with Deacon Mark Lalonde officiating at Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.

A Celebration of Life for Family and Friends will immediately follow funeral services at the family home.

At a later date to be announced, a larger gathering of family and friends will be held in Randy’s memory.

Interment will be at the Oswegatchie Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.

Randy is survived by a son, Austin Gotham and his wife, Jessica, of Ogdensburg, NY, a step-son, Dylan Lipinsky of Ogdensburg, NY; long-time companion, Alice VanSchaick of Ogdensburg, NY; five grandchildren; Bryleigh Rose, Ellyannah Mae, Zackary, Sydney, and Jaxon; siblings, Marlene Eustis and her husband, Paul, of Florida, Carol Miles of Florida, Debbie Quigley and her husband, Steve, of Adams, NY, Michele Bellinger and her husband, Donald, of Ogdensburg, Laurie Wood and her husband, Bill, of New Mexico, Tammy French of Florida, Tracy Ladouceur and her husband, Pete, of Ogdensburg, NY and Kevin Sharlow and his companion, Lisa Snow, of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Chance.

Randy is predeceased by his sister, Sherry M. Nichols and a step brother, Thomas Leo Sharlow.

Randy was born on March 23, 1961, in New York City, NY, the son of the late Stanley J. Gotham and Macile “Mae” J. (Howland) French.

He graduated from Hugh C. Williams Central School in Canton in 1979.

Randy married Martha L. Burton on February 23, 1991, in Ogdensburg, NY. She predeceased him on July 2, 2020.

Randy was employed by the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority as custodial and maintenance until his retirement in 2019, prior to that he worked at St. Lawrence University.

Randy, a man of many passions, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and adventure.

An avid outdoorsman, Randy cherished every moment spent hunting in the quiet woods, fishing by the serene lakes and rivers in the North Country, and tending to his garden - a reflection of his nurturing spirit.

A devoted grandfather, he delighted in sharing stories and laughter with his grandchildren, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Randy had an immense love for all of the dogs he had over the years, which he always treated like family.

Randy was also known for his love of the open road, often found riding his motorcycle with a smile on his face or on a 4-Wheeler run with loved ones and friends.

He was the life of every whoopatulah party, where he brought joy to all around him. Randy's vibrant spirit and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
