Theresa "Gloria" Mills, 95, Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG - Mrs. Theresa “Gloria” Mills, age 95 of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away peacefully at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg with Rev. Joseph
Morgan officiating.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Fox & Murray Funeral Home from 12:00PM-2:00PM and 4:00PM-6:00PM. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fox & Murray Funeral Home.

Gloria is the daughter of Michael and Ruth (Douglas) McKee, born October 25, 1928 in Ogdensburg, NY. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy and the Hepburn Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1949.

On August 26, 1950, Gloria married the love of her life, Allen P. Mills, at St. Mary’s Cathedral. He predeceased her on August 4, 1990. Together they raised a beautiful family, including seven children.

Gloria began her career as a nurse at Hepburn Hospital, and later went to St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, where she provided unwavering compassionate care to both the residents and co-workers. To this day she is thanked for her mentoring and guidance that she provided to others. She retired from the nursing home in 1992.

Gloria had an immense talent for creating beautiful and delicious cakes. For many years she provided special occasion cakes with one of a kind frosting that so many in the surrounding community enjoyed with the flavor and beauty of her work.

She enjoyed traveling, crochet and knitting, reading, making cakes and mostly spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Mills is survived by her children, Allen “Jeff” Mills and his wife Linda of Florida, Steve Mills and his wife Carol of Tennessee, Michael Mills and his wife Julie of Ogdensburg, Janice Burns and her husband Donald of Ogdensburg, Sue Basford and her husband Raymond of Hammond, Donald Mills of Ogdensburg, and Patricia Hogle and her husband Glen of Ogdensburg; her grandchildren, Eric Mills, Heather Sexton, Angela Mills, Pamela Green, Michael Mills, Brandy Mills, Allen, Mills, Joseph Burns, Christopher Burns, Melissa Burns, William McPherson, Elizabeth McPherson, Jillian Morgan, and Nolan Grizzuto; great-grandchildren Sean, Paxton &  Bryce Mills, Cora Mills, Maddie Green, Emily & Kiara Newtown, Liam & Claire Burns, Alexis & James Spooner and Luca Grizzuto; a sister-in-law MaryLou McKee of Ogdensburg; a special friend Jimmy Marney of North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Allen P. Mills; her parents, Michael and Ruth McKee; and her brothers, Joseph and Terry McKee.
