POTSDAM -- Join Nature Up North for Pride Outside: a collaborative event with Potsdam Pride and artist Sara E. Lynch at Fall Island on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m.
Nature enthusiasts and art aficionados are invited to the final foray of Sara's project, “Exploring Fall Island,” featuring a plant identification walk and botanical illustration workshop co-led by artist Sara Lynch, Nature Up North, and Potsdam Pride.
The event will begin with a plant identification walk, guided by experts from Nature Up North with foraging anecdotes from Sara.
Participants will explore the diverse plant life of the riparian buffer zone of Fall Island, learning about various species and gaining insights into their ecological roles.
This walk offers a unique opportunity to connect with the natural world and deepen one’s understanding of local flora.
Following the walk, the focus shifts to artistic creation led by artist Sara Lynch.
Lynch will lead attendees through techniques of capturing the details of plants on paper. Some art supplies and journals will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own.
This event not only celebrates the convergence of nature and art but also marks the conclusion of the “Exploring Fall Island” series.
The series culminates in a special exhibition at the Potsdam Public Museum in November, showcasing the art created over the course of the series alongside other artistic interpretations of the Fall Island experience.
