Lois Vallance Tucker, 97, Massena

MASSENA -- Lois Vallance Tucker, 97, of The Abbington of Arlington Assisted Living Center in Columbus, Ohio died on Friday, February 2, 2024.

Born on July 29, 1926, in Louisville, NY the daughter of Arthur and Leila Mae (Harris) Vallance, graduated from Massena High School in 1944.

She was employed by the Navy Office of Civilian Personnel, during World War II for ALCOA, MMH Hospital, and Newberry’s before retiring from Walsh Trucking in 1984.

Lois lived a full and rich life. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a source of much pride and great joy. She maintained close connections across generations of Vallance, Romeo and Tucker families to her final days.

Lois married Aubrey Tucker in 1984. They shared many years travelling, wintering in Florida and summers in Massena, New York.

After Aubrey passed in 2019, Lois moved to Columbus, Ohio where she spent the last five years making friends at her new retirement community.

She enjoyed reading, bicycling, walking and following the New York Yankees.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret; one daughter, Jane Sellica (William Fraccastoro), and one son, Michael J. Romeo Jr., (Laurie), step sons, Allen Tucker, Harold Tucker, step daughters, Linda Tucker (Carole Miller), Karen Cook (Robert); eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey, first husband, Michael J. Romeo, SR. two daughters, Ellen and Barbara Romeo; six sisters, Jessica, Pearl, Nora, Ruby, Maude, Ellen and four brothers, Charles, Victor, Arthur and Arnold.

Friends and family may be received on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
