Arleen C. Clary, 89, Massena

MASSENA -- Arleen C. Clary, 89, peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Rochester General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Arleen was born on November 11, 1936, in Malone, daughter of the late Harold J. and Beatrice (Peets) Kirkey.

She graduated from Massena High School and married Michael Clary on August 20, 1955, at Sacred Heart Church. Michael predeceased her on November 26, 1991.

Arleen was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, and an active member of the Massena Senior Citizens, where she enjoyed so many friendships and activities.

She was a waitress at Woolworth’s, deli clerk at P&C and waitressed, cooked and managed Ma’s Diner.

She was a great cook and loved making donuts, and enjoyed going to bingo, and playing Pegs and Jokers with family and friends.

Most of all, she cherished her time spent with her loving family.

She is survived by her children, Michael G. (Linda) Clary, Jr. of Colton and Florida; Ricky (Patti) Clary of Massena; Kim Clary of Georgia; Laurie Emond of Massena; Scott (Patricia) Clary of Massena; and Lisa (Randy) DuCom of South Carolina; her daughter-in-law, Virginia Clary of Massena; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Harold and Beatrice, and her husband, Michael, Arleen was predeceased by her son, Steven Clary in 2012, son-in-law, Michael DuCom, daughter-in-law, Cathy Clary, great granddaughter, Brynnleigh Clary, and her sister, Sally Larose.

The family would like friends and family to join them for a Celebration of Life that will be held at the Massena Moose Lodge on Saturday, November 7th at 2PM.

Burial will be held privately at Pine Grove Cemetery #2, at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made in Arleen’s memory to the American Heart Association.
