AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe will conduct its annual fall hydrant flushing beginning Oct. 5 as part of routine maintenance to maintain water quality and system efficiency.
Flushing will take place according to the following schedule:
Oct. 5-9: McGee Road, Thomas Road, Margaret Terrance Memorial Way, St. Regis Road, Sarah Lane, Pike Road, Rourke Road, Okwarine Road, HUD, White Road and Rooseveltown Road.
Oct. 12-15: Raquette Point Road, Frogtown Road, Conners Road, Soloman Road, North Road, East NY-37 and Akwesasne Mohawk Casino.
Oct. 19-23: Route 95, Tarbell Road, Swamp Road, Jock Road, Jacobs Road, Beaver Meadow Road, Cook Road, River Road, Phillips Road, Drum Street and Gray Bear Road.
Residents may experience lower-than-normal water pressure while flushing is underway in their area. The process may also temporarily discolor water and could stain clothing during laundry.
Microbubbles may cause water to appear cloudy in a glass, but the bubbles will dissipate if the water is left standing.
Residents with questions can contact the Water Department at 518-358-4205 or the Water Treatment Facility at 518-358-6159.
The Tribe also reminded residents that unauthorized use of hydrants is prohibited. Anyone who notices unusual hydrant use should contact Tribal Police or the Water Department.
