MASSENA – The St. Lawrence County Suicide Awareness Coalition extends its appreciation to Iron Mind and Laborers' Local #1822 for their generous donation following the Iron Minds Walk held in Massena.

The Iron Minds Walk brought attention to the importance of mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and breaking down the stigma that often prevents individuals from seeking help. The event served as a powerful reminder that mental health challenges can affect anyone and that coming together as a community can make a meaningful difference.

The Coalition is especially grateful to see labor organizations taking an active role in promoting mental health awareness and encouraging open conversations about suicide prevention. Within industries where strength, resilience, and hard work are highly valued, it is equally important to recognize that true strength also includes reaching out for support when it is needed.

"We are incredibly thankful to Iron Mind and Laborers' Local #1822 for their generosity and commitment to suicide prevention," said Lindsay Best, Chair of the St. Lawrence County Suicide Awareness Coalition. "The Iron Minds Walk is a wonderful example of what can happen when people come together for a cause that impacts so many individuals and families. Their efforts not only raise awareness but also help break down barriers that can prevent someone from asking for help. We are honored that they chose to support our Coalition and the work we do throughout St. Lawrence County."

The donation will support the Coalition's ongoing efforts to provide suicide prevention education, community outreach, awareness campaigns, and resources for individuals and families. Initiatives such as Chalk the Walk, suicide prevention training, and community education help reinforce the message that hope is real, help is available, and no one should have to struggle alone.

The Coalition recognizes that suicide prevention is not the responsibility of any one organization or agency. It takes neighbors, employers, labor unions, community organizations, families, and individuals working together to create an environment where mental health is openly discussed and people feel comfortable seeking support.

The St. Lawrence County Suicide Awareness Coalition sincerely thanks Iron Mind, Laborers' Local #1822, and everyone involved in the Iron Minds Walk in Massena for their dedication, generosity, and willingness to make mental health and suicide prevention a priority.

Together, we can continue to reduce stigma, encourage conversations, and build a community where everyone knows they matter.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, for free, confidential support available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
