For the third year in a row, the local Retirement Council 9 Sub-Council, Franklin-St Lawrence County (FSNUR), is offering four, $100 scholarships to new (to the profession) teachers in the FSNUR counties.
Local union presidents were notified of the scholarship in September. Eligible teachers should also reach out to their local NYSUT union president to facilitate their nomination.
Last year, scholarships were presented to Hannah Hotaling, an art teacher at Canton Middle School and Nora O’Gorman, a physical education teacher at Massena High School. No nominations were received from Franklin County.
Recipients may use the award in whatever way they wish.
