SLC Arts launches traveling exhibition 'Echoes'' art exhibition inspired by American Revolution

POTSDAM – SLC Arts recently held a successful launch of the traveling exhibition, “Echoes:’’ Exhibition of Art Inspired by Revolution. The exhibition includes many forms of arts such as printmaking, poems, and so many other mediums. 

On June 20 in Ogdensburg at the Dobisky Visitors Center and June 21 in Massena at Trinity Catholic School, SLC Arts displayed work of local artist, including Nathaniel Infante, Catherine Lapointe-Vollmer, Allision Montroy, Cassandra Bolesh, Andrew Carpino, and so many other artist. The free event was open to the public, welcoming participants of all ages. 

Participants on Saturday had the opportunity to engage in a hands on printmaking workshop led by Dianne Drayse-Alonso, learning the intaglio method-an accessible printmaking technique used during the American Revolution to share ideas and messages. Participants on Sunday had fun also making protest art with Allison Montroy, creating signs through collage, paint, stencils, and stamps. 



“I enjoyed talking to people from all walks of life from toddlers to age 93, it made my weekend worth it,” said Titilayo Aluko, SLU PIC Intern supporting the SLC Arts America 250 project.

In Gouverneur on July 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gouverneur Community Center.  Join historian Geoffrey Clark at 11 a.m. for his presentation on the messy, surprising, and resilient history of American democracy and artist Rebecca Donnelly at 1 p.m. to learn and create your own zine.

In Waddington on July 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Waddington Old Town Hall. Join historian Gaylynn Welsh at 11:00am for her presentation on suffragists challenges and artist Sonja Jensen at 1 p.m. to design your own flag.
