LOUISVILLE -- Sharon L. Vice, 80, of Willard Road, peacefully passed away late Monday evening, June 24, 2024, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Kimberly, where she had been residing for the past six months.

Sharon was born May 12, 1944, in Potsdam, the daughter of the late Otis and Elizabeth “Betty” (Thompson) Blanchard.

She first attended school in Potsdam, later graduating from Madrid-Waddington Central School. Her friendships in high school continued throughout her life and she greatly enjoyed the regular luncheons with her fellow classmates.

On May 8, 1965, she married the love of her life, Wayne A. Vice at the Madrid United Methodist Church with Rev. William Masters, officiating. Wayne sadly predeceased her on January 17, 2010.

Sharon worked for a time at restaurants in Norfolk and Raymondville. Sharon later worked as a bus driver for Massena Central Schools, retiring after 21 years.

She also cherished the friendships she forged as a bus driver and enjoyed the retired driver luncheons. Sharon and Wayne enjoyed their winters in Myrtle Beach, square dancing when they were younger, and she loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

She loved to socialize and visit with anyone, always loved horses, and watching the birds especially the cardinals and hummingbirds in the back yard were some of her most recent pastimes.

Sharon is survived by her children and their spouses, Jeffrey and Kimberly Vice of Louisville, Buffie and Lisa Burnette-Vice of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Annette and Greg Paquin of Massena, and Rhonda and Brandon Hunter of Smyrna, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren, her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sheila Blanchard of Colton and Myrtle Beach; many nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat, Summer.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Kermit Blanchard.

Sharon was about “all things bright and beautiful,” so friends are invited to join her family dressed in bright clothing as they honor and celebrate her life on July 2, 2024, from 1-3:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena.

A brief prayer service will be offered at 3:00 with her cousin, Robert Wickwire, officiating.

Sharon, along with Wayne will be buried in Louisville Community Cemetery following the services.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley or the Louisville Fire Department.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where friends are encouraged to share memories and offer condolences online at www.donaldsonfh.com.
