Richard E. "Rick" Cherry, 73, Edwards

EDWARDS -- A Celebration of Life for Richard E. “Rick” Cherry, will be held on July 6, 2024, at his home with his family.

Mr. Cherry died at the age of 73, on June 21, 2024, at the Wiles-Barres Commonwealth Health Center, Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Mr. Cherry was a truck driver in his earlier years but the majority of his life was a Pressman for the Houston Press/Chronicle and then the Denver post, from which he retired.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, joking around, collecting bears and old coins. Most of all he enjoyed loving his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and fiancé, Cindy Gordon.

Rick was born June 2, 1951, in Houston, Texas. He was a son of the late Elmer Wilbur and Margeurite Louise (Kath) Cherry.

He was predeceased by a sister, Colleen Cherry and a grandson, Jackson McLaughlin.

Rick is survived by his fiancé of 19 years, Cindy Gordon Sr. of Edwards; a son, Chris (Heather) Cherry of Alvin, TX; daughter Elizabeth Cherry of Alvin, TX; five step-sons, James (Amy) Belonge of Potsdam, Terry Gordon of Edwards, Jason (Katie) Gordon of Edwards, John (Sherry) McLaughlin and Wallace (Danielle) McLaughlin of Russell; three step-daughters, Tina (Mike) Haines of St. Regis Falls, Cindy Gordon (Carl) of Raymondville and Colleen McLaughlin of Potsdam. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren, Quinten, Desiree, Kylie, Jakob, Hailey, Kelvin, April, Breanna, Trey, Morgan, Jordan, Robert, Daisy, John, Maci, Maddison, Corey, Valerie, Jason, Brittney, Lindzy, Damian, Bayleigh, Yasmynn, Myah, Calvin, Wallace Jr., and Evangeline; five great-grandchildren, Damon, Taiden, Logan, Arlo and Eleanor with expected arrival of a new grandchild and a great-granddaughter Lola later this year.
