POTSDAM: A 57-year-old Potsdam man was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated Oct. 30 and arrested on assault and strangulation charges about six hours later, according to village police.
Jody R. Reece was stopped on Main Street at 9:02 p.m. after an officer saw him allegedly make an improper right turn, police said. Police determined he was intoxicated, and a DMV check showed his license was suspended.
Reece allegedly took a chemical breath test that showed a blood alcohol content of 0.19%, police said.
He was ticketed for improper right turn, first-offense DWI, aggravated DWI with a BAC of 0.18% or higher and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. He was cited and released on those charges.
About six hours later, he was arrested following an alleged domestic dispute.
At 3:26 a.m. Oct. 31, police responded to Outer Main Street. Reece was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree harassment (physical contact), second-degree strangulation and first-degree unlawful imprisonment, police said.
Reece was arraigned in Norfolk Town Court and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail, police said.
