The polls are now open until 9 p.m. for the public to get out and vote in a number of state, county and local contested races.
The most prolific race has been for the NY-21 Congressional seat between Democrat Blake Gendebien and Republican Anthony Constantino who are looking to succeed outgoing Congresswoman Elise Stefanik.
Many county and local races are also expected to be tight as well. Voters will be casting ballots for seats on the St. Lawrence County Legislature as well as races in the City of Ogdensburg and town and village races throughout the county.
Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul is being challenged by Republican/Conservative Bruce Blakeman.
Incumbent Republican State Senators Dan Stec and Mark Walczyk will face challenges from Democrats Melissa Seale and Cassie Robbins-Forbus respectively.
In the state Assembly, incumbent Republican Scott Gray is running unopposed in the 116th District, however the 117th District will see a new Assembly person after the retirement of Ken Blankenbush. That race will be contested between Blankenbush's Chief-of-Staff Tammie Nabywaniec and Democrat Dennis Gordon.
