LOUISVILLE — One person was taken to the hospital after a vehicle crashed into a state trooper vehicle Thursday afternoon on State Highway 37, according to state police.

Troopers say the two-vehicle collision occurred Sept, 19 around 12:10 p.m.

A preliminary investigation reportedly determined that Trooper James Bertram was traveling west in marked patrol vehicle B103 on State Highway 37.

Police said a 2011 white Mazda sedan operated by Michael Martinez, 18, Massena, failed to observe Trooper Bertram stopping to conduct a left-hand turn into the rest area off of State Highway 37, striking the patrol vehicle in the rear.

Martinez was reportedly transported to Canton Potsdam Hospital for medical evaluations and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Trooper Bertram was not injured during this collision, officers said.

Police did not list any tickets.
