MADRID -- The American Legion Post 79 of Massena, recently donated $1,000 to Fort Tribute.

“We appreciate the support of our Veterans and the assistance they provide in ensuring we continue to honor the brave 6,000 soldiers from St. Lawrence County that served to preserve the Union,” states Scott A. Wilson, Volunteer Fort Coordinator.

“These funds will continue to assist us in furthering the educational needs and equipment at the Civil War interpretive Center,” Wilson adds.

Fort Tribute is a Civil-War era historical interpretive center located on the grounds of the St. Lawrence Power & Equipment Museum in Madrid.

It also has the only single Civil War monument to recognize the Congressional Medal of Honor recipients from St. Lawrence County that fought in the War between 1861-1865.
