CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce is warning local business owners and the public about two scams that are being perpetrated in the region.
The chamber said that there have been reports to local law enforcement of a male subject approaching business owners attempting to sell advertisement space on flyers/posters.
“These advertisements are thought to be FRAUDULENT! Contact your local police department if you encounter this suspicious activity,” the chamber said in a recent announcement.
Second, the chamber said there have been several recent attempts by individuals to sell the county chamber contact list.
“DO NOT purchase from these entities. We do NOT sell our contact list but our membership directory is FREE on our website, VisitSTLC.com,” the chamber said.
Chamber officials have advised that members of the business community and the public reach out to the responsible/coordinating entities to verify opportunities and sales.
