OGDENSBURG — Two North Country fire departments will receive a combined $134,639.18 in federal grants to support firefighting operations.
The Ogdensburg Fire Department will receive $5,714.28, while the St. Regis Falls Volunteer Fire Department will receive $128,924.90.
The funding comes through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program, which provides funding to fire departments for equipment, protective gear, training and other resources needed by emergency personnel.
The grants are part of more than $13.2 million awarded to fire departments across Upstate New York, announced by U.S. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.
The senators said the funding will help address equipment, training and other resource needs at fire departments across the state.
