STAR LAKE - Jared M. Cooper, aged 88, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, in Star Lake, NY.
Born in Plattsburgh, NY on October 5, 1935, Jerry dedicated 35 years as a high school science teacher at Clifton-Fine Central School, where he was beloved by students and faculty alike for his passion and dedication to education. He also coached many sports teams including his favorite, golf.
Jerry served honorably in the New York State Army National Guard for two years, where he demonstrated his commitment to his country. His hobbies included reading, golfing, spending time outdoors, and puttering around the house. Above all, Jerry cherished the
time spent with his family, who were the cornerstone of his life.
He is survived by his sister, Patricia (Robert) Elmore; his son, Anthony (Kerrie) Cooper; daughters, Leslie Averill and Kimberly (Timothy) LeRoy; and grandchildren Dalton Averill, Taylor Averill, Sydnie LeRoy, and Madison LeRoy. He is also survived by longtime companion Kathryn Fletcher, and her daughters Julie Bush and Tara Jenne.
Jerry was preceded in death by his stepfather and mother, Justin and Irene Allen, and his sister, Carol Merrill.
A celebration of life will be held on his birthday, October 5th, at 1pm at the American Legion, 264 Benson Mines Golf Course Rd, Star Lake, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Clifton-Fine Hospital or the National Kidney Foundation.
His legacy of kindness, dedication, and love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him.
