GOUVERNEUR -- The Gouverneur Savings and Loan Association recently applied for and distributed $10,000 grants to five local businesses and organizations in the Gouverneur community.
The $50,000 was made available through the 2024 Small Business Recovery Grant (SBRG) program, which is provided by the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York. The grant offers substantial financial support to businesses and non-profits across its district, which includes New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The following local organizations received $10,000 each: Emerald Greens in Gouverneur, Gouverneur Neighborhood Center, Gouverneur Chamber of Commerce, Gouverneur Recreational Center, and Gouverneur Breast and Ovarian Cancer Fund.
“We are proud to share that these local businesses have received this much-needed financial relief, helping them navigate current economic challenges. Each of these organizations plays a vital role in the Gouverneur community, and this grant will provide them with the financial stability they need to continue their operations and serve our community,” said GS&L President and CEO Robert W. Barlow.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to support these businesses through this initiative, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this funding will have on their long-term success. This investment not only strengthens our local economy but also highlights the resilience and determination of our business community. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York for making this possible and for their continued commitment to supporting businesses in our region.”
