MASSENA -- Stewart's Shops officials are considering a move for their North Main Street location, possibly moving to a location closer to the downtown area.
Though still early in the process, officials say the move could see Stewart's close their location across from the Little League baseball field on North Main St. in favor of opening a new location at the intersection of North Main and Maple Streets.
But that location, currently occupied by On a Roll Deli, is just one of many that company officials are weighing.
No paperwork has been filed as of yet, but it is anticipated that in the coming weeks Stewart's will begin filing paperwork with the Village of Massena Planning Board to start the process.
No action is expected this year as Stewart's wraps up a number of projects at the end of 2024, officials said.
Stewart's officials say they plan to have discussion with the Planning Board in the near future to assess each property to ensure they have the appropriate amount of space to meet the needs of the new location.
If successful, Stewart's officials say they will keep the existing location standing to either lease or sell to a new tenant.
