CANTON -- Erik Geier has been named the new full-time Assistant Track & Field Coach for St. Lawrence University, effective immediately, the men's and women's programs announced Wednesday.

"We look forward to working with Erik in this full-time coaching position on our track and field staff," said Kate Howard, head coach of the Saints women's track and field program. "From the track, to the weightroom, to the classroom, Erik is fully invested in the holistic long-term growth and development of our track and field student-athletes."

"We are thrilled to have Erik take on this expanded position in our program," said John Newman, head coach of the Saints men's track and field program. "As a student-athlete at St. Lawrence and as a graduate-assistant coach this past year, Erik developed into an outstanding role model for our team members.  He has shown exceptional instructional and leadership qualities and is well respected by both his peers and our student-athletes.  Erik rose to the top of our very strong candidate pool throughout the search process and we couldn't be happier to move forward with him on our staff."

Geier will serve in an expanded role with St. Lawrence, obtaining responsibilities with the program's fall training segment, programming, recruiting on and off campus, home meet management, student-athlete development and an enhanced role in maintaining alumni connections.

The native of Hamilton, N.Y., was the Graduate Assistant Coach for the Scarlet and Brown in 2023-24 after wrapping up his career as a four-year member of the Saints men's track and field team. In his first season as a member of the Saints' coaching staff, he worked primarily with sprinters and hurdlers, in addition to recruiting responsibilities and home meet management.

As a student-athlete, Geier was a team captain in his final season. Over the course of his athletic career, he grew into a leadership role and helped plan pre-season workouts and practices, assisted in the recruiting process, helped with the operation of the cross country regionals and aided in volunteer activities.

On the track, Geier's performances stood out as some of the best in the Liberty League. His collegiate-bests include 7.20 seconds in the 60-meter dash and 11.42 seconds in the 100-meter dash, as well as 8.24 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles and 14.85 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles. He also earned multiple weekly Liberty League accolades, All-Region honors, and was named to All-Conference squads.

He was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, as well as multiple honor societies including – Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Epsilon, and Chi Alpha Sigma. He also earned USTFCCCA and Liberty League All-Academic honors and was a Dean's List student.

A 2023 graduate of St. Lawrence, Geier received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Economics and Business in the Liberal Arts and a minor in Philosophy. He is currently completing his Master of Leadership program at St. Lawrence.
