CANTON - EDF Renewables officials want to know more about a proposed nature park and walking trail to possibly be incorporated with EDF’s Rich Road solar facility.
A survey is available and takes just a few minutes to answer a dozen or so questions. Visit https://mower.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0q8OQH2Yzm0tGnk
“The Rich Road Solar project has been engaging with a group made up of local residents, the Canton Rich Road Solar Planning Committee, to come up with ideas to integrate Rich Road Solar into the Canton Community,” said Haylee Ferington, Community Relations Manager for EDF Renewables. “One such way is a nature/walking trail outside of and adjacent to the solar facility. The survey welcomes additional community feedback on the trail.”
Ferington said for further questions on the Rich Road Solar project, the community group, or walking trail, reach out to newyorksolar@edf-re.com
The survey focuses on amenities, activities and unique features the public would like to be included within the potential trail. For example, would you like to see vegetable and flower gardens, a nature-looking playground, local community art, and a picnic area.
On the recreation side, would you like to allow cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, running and jogging, horseback riding, rollerblading, cycling and bike riding, and even bird watching?
If you are affiliated with a civic organization or community group, would you be willing to engage in a volunteer capacity?
Members of the Rich Road development team have been speaking with local community members to come up with ideas on how to best incorporate the project into the fabric of the local community.
EDF Renewables’ 240-megawatt solar facility was issued a final siting permit by the Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES) on Sept. 24.
Phase one of construction is expected to begin in 2025 with completion in 2027.
