CANTON — The St. Lawrence University Chapter of Ducks Unlimited (SLU DU) is holding its annual sportsman’s night out on Friday, April 14 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Saphead Complex, 5355 County Route 27. Tickets range in price from $20 for students, $55 non-student, $90 couple, and $280 sponsorship. Organ concert

POTSDAM — SUNY Potsdam’s Department of Chemistry will welcome Dr. Randolph Mitchell ‘77 for a public talk, “Forensic Odontology: When the Teeth Do the Talking,” on Friday, April 14, from 11 a.m. to noon, in Stowell Hall Room 211. Mitchell, who worked as a general family dentist for 36 years before his recent retirement, has been the forensic odontologist for the Monroe County (NY) Office of the Medical Examiner since 2009. Sound Sandbox

CANTON — Sound Sandbox Ensemble will perform Friday, April 14 at 8 p.m. in Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall at St. Lawrence University. Free, open to the public. The Sound Sandbox provides a space for musicians to experiment with creating new sounds. This semester, the group will work on a silent film project, adding live sound to Buster Keaton short films. Maple Run Marathon

CANTON — The Maple Run Half Marathon and 5K takes to Town and Village of Canton streets on Saturday, April 15. This year’s routes start at Bend in the River Park and travel away from the Village using Miner Street. The 5K will take an off-road path, while the half marathon will run out and back on Jingleville and Rich roads to Old Route 11 with a turnaround at State Hightway 11. CANTON — SLU String Orchestra presents Video Game Music In Concert! on Sunday, April 16, 2 p.m. at the Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall at St. Lawrence University. Free, open to the public. The New York State Department of Labor and Partners are hosting the North Country Regional Virtual Career Fair on April 26 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. A preview day will be held on April 25, where jobseekers can view content and job postings and prepare themselves for the “live” event. Poetry reading

POTSDAM — SLC Arts will host a poetry reading for local poets at 45 Market St. on Tuesday, April 25 from 6-7:30 p.m. The event will begin with a brief reading by Creatives Rebuild NY artist, Karyn Crispo, and will include an opportunity for poets to meet and greet attendees after the reading. ‘Roll for Initiative’

Spring cleanup drop-off

LOUISVILLE — The town of Louisville will hold a spring cleanup drop off at the highway department at 14810 State Highway 37 April 26-29 from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. for town residents. Town employees will be available to help. No liquids, tires, propane tanks, household garbage or construction material will be accepted. Brush pick-up begins the following week.

Howl story slam

MORRISTOWN — The Adirondack Center for Writing and North Country Public Radio will host one of its six Howl Story Slams in Morristown for its 2023 spring season. The Howl will convene a storytelling slam on April 27 at 7 p.m. at the Iron Horse Grill. Anyone can sign-up. Winning storytellers will be invited to compete in the Grand Slam event held later at St. Lawrence University.

POTSDAM — Potsdam Presbyterian and Trinity churches are hosting a dine in or take out community supper on Thursday, April 27 from 5-6:30 p.m. Menu: pork on a bun, coleslaw and dessert. Arbor Day celebration

OGDENSBURG -- An Arbor Day celebration will be held Friday, April 28, at 10 a.m. at the Ogdensburg Police Department. This year the tree planting will be in memory of Sergeant Scott Reed. The police station is located at 800 Park Street.

Student recital

CANTON — A student recital performance will be held Friday, April 28 at 4:30 p.m. at the Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall at St. Lawrence University. The event is free and open to the public.
