CANTON – A Waddington resident has been charged by Canton police for falsely reporting an incident stemming from an initial report of harassing her boyfriend's ex-wife in December 2022.

Amanda Perkins, 37, of 159 Lincoln Ave., Apt. 3, was charged Jan. 10, according to police. She appeared in Canton Town Court on Monday, Jan. 22.

She is an employee of St. Lawrence County.

The initial incident reportedly took place Dec. 2022 when Perkins complained of harassing text messages from the ex-wife. She provided police with screen shots and time frames. The ex-wife also said she was being harassed and provided a completely different set of text images, according to police.

Both were warned to not contact each other.

On Nov. 1, 2023, the victim told police Perkins continued to harass her. A second warning was issued, police said.

Following an investigation, Perkins was charged on Jan. 10 and an order for protection was issued.
