CANTON - Although a little more than a month away, the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for one of Canton’s most popular events.

The annual Phantoms in the Park will take place Saturday, Oct. 26, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Canton Village Park.

The County Chamber is currently looking for volunteers to assist with the event that traditionally attracts hundreds of children, parents, and grandparents.

“We are excited to continue beloved traditions for this year’s event, including the Trick-or-Treat Parade, Costume Contest, and Kids' Activities in the Park. These activities are currently in the planning stages, and we’re actively seeking organizations and groups to volunteer or host interactive activities,” said Katie Berry, the County Chamber’s Canton Community Coordinator.

Those interested in volunteering or hosting an activity can sign up online at https://bit.ly/Canton-Phantoms .

“We are currently seeking enthusiastic volunteers and community organizations to participate in this beloved annual event by hosting tables, providing activities, and helping to create a festive event,” Berry added.

Members of the County Chamber [subject to approval] are welcome to set up a table in the park.

The highlight of Phantoms in the Park is a costume contest at noon followed by the Trick or Treat Parade through downtown Canton around 1 p.m.

“Local businesses are encouraged to join in the fun by staying open and handing out candy during the Trick-or-Treat Parade,” Berry noted.

If businesses would like to be added to the list of designated parade stops, they can email Berry at Katie@SLCchamber.org or call 315-386-4000 ext 6.

Berry pointed out that this year St. Lawrence University's  “Make A Difference Day” coincides with the pre-Halloween event.

“Phantoms in the Park will serve as a designated volunteer site for students, and we look forward to their participation along with other community members to make this year’s event memorable,” she stated.
