Barbara M. Thomas, 91, formerly of Colton

COLTON - Graveside services for Barbara M. Thomas, 91, a resident of the United Helpers Maplewood Campus and formerly of the Corcoran Road, Colton, will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at 2 p.m. in the Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Colton with Kenny Ashley presiding.  Barbara passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at the Maplewood Campus in Canton with family at her side. 

Barbara is survived by her three sons, Jerry and Penny Thomas, Kevin and Nancy Thomas and Jason and Anastasia Thomas, all of Colton; two daughters, Jill Chase, Colton and Brenda Thomas, Forsyth, GA; her ten beloved grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and her extended family. Barbara was pre-deceased by her parents William and Belva, her husband Joseph W. Thomas, an infant son, Wayne David Thomas; a son-in-law, Kenneth Chase, just a month ago and her three siblings, Henry Seymour, Bob Seymour and Margie Perkins. 

Born in South Colton, NY on January 12, 1935 to the late William and Belva Stowe Seymour, Barbara graduated from high school and married Joseph W. Thomas on March 17, 1955. Barbara worked at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital in admissions for many years and previously worked for the telephone company as well as helping on the Thomas family farm.  In her free time, Barbara enjoyed cooking for her family, making donuts and playing cards, but truly loved just spending time with her family.
