Dr. Manimaran is certified by the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, and earned his medical degree at the University of Medicine and Health Sciences, St. Kitts, West Indies. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, MD. Dr. Manimaran is a member of the American College of Physicians, and is fluent in English, Sinhala, and Tamil.

Dr. Manimaran moved to the U.S. from the underserved country of Sri Lanka, and he noted he was drawn to CPH for its efforts in providing quality health care to all regional residents.

“I understand the importance of health care equality in underserved areas, and have always wanted to be part of a team that cares for such communities,” he said. “I believe St. Lawrence Health is doing a great job in ensuring services are reaching each and every person in the North Country. Along with the high standards of the system, I like the pace of country living, hence this area is a good fit for me.”

Dr. Walter earned his medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA; and completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Walter is fluent in English and Spanish.

”I am excited to join the community both at Canton-Potsdam Hospital and in the wider St. Lawrence Valley. When I first visited Potsdam, I was struck by both the beauty of the town and the friendliness and generosity of the people I met here,” noted Dr. Walter. “Although born and raised in New York City, I have always been a nature lover and as I have grown older, I have been increasingly drawn to the slower pace of small town living and the call of the mountains.”

As Hospitalists, Dr. Manimaran and Dr. Walter specialize in the care of hospitalized patients, and coordinate acute-level care with primary care practitioners, case managers, allied health members, and specialists.
