Sweet Emilie’s Coffee & Ice Cream opening in Ogdensburg as Hosmer’s announces rebranding

OGDENSBURG – Sweet Emilie’s Coffee & Ice Cream will officially open Wednesday June 26 at 6 a.m. with a ribbon cutting planned for 11 a.m.

The new shoppe will feature locally roasted coffee from Tug Hill Roasters, espresso, lattes, and similar drinks along with morning pastries.

In addition, they will serve NY State made Ice Cream from Byrne Dairy, homemade ice cream, and other frozen treats.

“We have focused on creating an atmosphere both inside and out that embraces morning, day, and night conversations and experiences with friends and family. We hope you, your family, and your friends will join us enjoying our new endeavor,” Owner William Hosmer said in a prepared statement.

“For the previous twelve months Hozmerica, LLC (Hosmer’s Marina) has been focused on a large expansion that will transition our facility into a destination for locals and tourists visiting our community,” he said.

“The team at Hosmer’s Marina is dedicated to not only building a successful business, but to building our community and as we continue to grow, we hope that we are making at least a small difference in our community.”

Hosmer said the expansion encompassed a complete overhaul and expansion of our parking lot including the addition of new parking spots, new lighting, and improved traffic flow.

“ All of the buildings were remodeled to share similar characteristics that allow patrons to feel like all of the amenities are one cohesive facility,” he said.  “The landscape has been transformed to tie all of the exterior common areas together. Our rental division has been expanded to include additional kayaks and paddle boards.  We have built a new coffee and ice cream shop that includes both an interior and exterior space for patrons.  Lastly, we have acquired over three acres of additional property for future expansion.”

Hosmer said that with the expansion he’s  decided to rebrand the  business in order to create less confusion to patrons.

“From the opening of the marina, twelve years ago, we have struggled to embrace the Smuggler’s Café name of the restaurant and it continues to cause confusion for guests and employees and will no longer be part of the Hosmer’s brand. Effective immediately the entire facility will continue to operate as Hosmer’s Marina.  The restaurant will be known as JJ’s on the River.  The coffee and ice cream shop will be known as Sweet Emilie’s Coffee & Ice Cream.”

Hosmer said patrons can now eat at JJ’s On The River, Drink at Sweet Emilie’s Coffee and Ice Cream and Fish at Hosmer’s Marina, Rental Facility and office’s all of which are part of Hosmer’s Marina.

Hosmer said the  businesses at Hosmer’s Marina are named after the children of William & Maureen Hosmer (owners) because Hosmer’s Marina is a place that all families can enjoy and find something fun and unique to do.

“The Hosmer family would like to share the happiness and excitement that this facility brings to their children; Jonathan, Jason, Benjamin, and Emilie … and no, we didn’t forget Ben, it just means there’s more to come,” he said.
