CANTON — The SUNY Canton men's soccer team will be hosting its annual Fall ID Clinic on Monday, November 11th from 10 AM to 1 PM for prospective student-athletes in grades 9-12, as well as those enrolled in junior colleges or four-year colleges who have filled out the proper release paperwork and documentation.

"Our staff are incredibly excited to welcome the next classes of SUNY Canton men's soccer to campus," Head Coach Tim Penrod said. "As we look to continue growing in the SUNYAC, bringing high-quality student-athletes to our campus is at the forefront of our recruiting process. Giving interested student-athletes an opportunity to perform and compete within our top-class athletic facility with our coaching staff is a great opportunity to see how players can impact our program both on and off the field. I cannot overstate how important our clinic is to our recruiting process: over 80% of our current roster are former clinic attendees."

Unlike other ID camps and clinics, the SUNY Canton event provides an opportunity for participants to experience a full training session, work with coaches and current players, and gain a better understanding of the coaching styles of the men's soccer staff. According to Penrod, "We want prospective student-athletes to leave campus with a full understanding of the expectations we have as a staff and provide them an opportunity to get a good feel for what we're about, both on and off the field."

The clinic will include a full training session, goalkeeper specific training, and the opportunity to play in both small-sided and 11 v. 11 games. In order to ensure quality opportunities for the coaching staff to observe each participant, registration will be capped at 35 participants.

While the schedule is subject to change, the below schedule will give interested parties a rough layout of the day:

  • 9:00 AM – Registration Opens
  • 9:40 AM – Registration Closes
  • 10 AM – Clinic Begins
  • 10-11 AM – Team and GK Specific Training
  • 11-12 PM – 7v7 Games
  • 12-1 PM – 11v11 Games
  • 1:15-2 PM – Information Session (Optional)
  • 2:00 PM – Event Ends

The registration fee for this event is $85. Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Once the cap of 35 participants is reached, a wait list will be created and maintained. To register, use the following link: https://forms.gle/rnvFk3NTvftRccR26. A member of the coaching staff will confirm your registration with you within 24 hours of completing the form.

Payment can be sent in advance via check or money order, made payable to "SUNY Canton Athletics" with "Men's Soccer" in the memo line. Cash or check payment the day of will also be accepted. If paying in advance, send checks to:
