HOPKINTON – A State of Emergency in the Town of Hopkinton enacted Tuesday, Aug. 23, has been extended for 30 days.
The State of Emergency was declared due to emergency conditions produced by the recent heavy rains and consistent runoff causing washout and heavy damage to certain roads in the town of Hopkinton, including River Street.
Town Supervisor Susan Woods reported such conditions threaten or imperil the public safety of the citizens of the Town of Hopkinton.
“As Town Supervisor and Chief Executive, I, Susan M. Wood, have exercised the authority given to me under New York State Executive Law, Section 24, to preserve the public safety and hereby render all required and available assistance vita to the security, well-being and health of the citizens of the community.”
“I hereby direct the Department of St. Lawrence County Highway Department, St. Lawrence County Office of EMS, and the Hopkinton Highway Department to take whatever steps necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure and other such emergency assistance as deemed necessary.”
