St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union opens Hermon branch

HERMON -- St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union officially opened its newest branch.

St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union celebrated their newest branch opening at 111 Church St.

“We are delighted to be here serving the people of Hermon and the surrounding areas with their financial needs,“ said CEO Todd Mashaw. “Part of our Credit Union mission is to serve the underserved rural areas”. “ We opened our Heuvelton branch in July of 2021” . “We appreciate the opportunity to provide these important services to our rural areas”.

The St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union now operates a total of six branches.

In addition to new Hermon branch, customers are served with two branches in Ogdensburg, as well a branches in Canton, Potsdam and Heuvelton.

“We are proud to bring the much needed financial services to Hermon, Russell, Edward’s and surrounding communities," said Richard Tacchino, business development officer.

The St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union was established in 1954 for the employees of the St. Lawrence State Hospital and their families. The location was in the Center Building at the St. Lawrence State Hospital.

Since that time growth has created the five branches. In 1991, the Commerce Park Building in Ogdensburg was opened.

In 2003, the State Street branch in Ogdensburg was opened. In 2004, the Credit Union opened in Canton with a branch located next to The Canton Fire Station, later they moved the branch to a new building in 2014. In 2017, the Potsdam branch was opened.
