Rosemary J. Shoen, 80, Massena

MASSENA -- Rosemary J. Shoen, 80, of North Main Street, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family while under the care of Hospice.

Rosemary was born July 2, 1944 in Massena, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Rose (Keller) Hooper. She attended Massena Central School graduating in 1962. Rosemary then attended Samaritan School of Nursing in Watertown and later worked at Massena Memorial Hospital as a Ward Clerk retiring after 25 years.

Rosemary was a communicant of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Massena and at one time held the positions of Altar Guild, Vestryman and Warden. She enjoyed watching birds and spending time with her grandchildren. She married Mackenzie “Mac” Shoen on September 26, 1964 at St. John’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Michael Lynch presiding.

Rosemary is survived by her husband, Mac Shoen of Massena; three children, Deborah (Damon) Lynch of Massena, Michael (Corinne) Shoen of Naples, Florida and Thomas (Lisa) Shoen of Syracuse; eight grandchildren, Brandon Saunders, Zoey Shoen, Benjamin Shoen, Ethan Shoen, Cameron Shoen, Wyatt Shoen, Brooke Shoen and Savannah Shoen; a sister, Judi (Jerry) Brawner of Fredericksburg, VA; three brothers, James (Mary) Hooper Leesburg, Florida, Donald Hooper of Lakeland, Florida and John (Karen) Hooper of Lakeland, Florida as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Hooper.

Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 from 1:00 until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Massena. Burial will be held at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery II, Norfolk.
