Rain, snow in high elevations possible in St. Lawrence Valley through Wednesday

A low pressure system will continue to bring chances for widespread rain and higher elevation snowfall this morning through Wednesday in the St. Lawrence Valley, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Highs today will be around 44 with a 90% chance of rain, the service says. Overnight lows will be around 35.

Periods of breezy winds and colder than average temperatures will feel unseasonably brisk at times before high pressure returns late this week, NWS says.

Temperatures trend much warmer late this week into the weekend, the service says.

The extended forecast through next Sunday is as follows:

Tuesday

A chance of rain and snow showers before 9am, then rain showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 44. West wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Tuesday Night

Showers. Low around 33. West wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Wednesday

A 30 percent chance of showers before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. Northwest wind around 9 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night

Partly cloudy, with a low around 30. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Thursday

Sunny, with a high near 55. West wind 3 to 8 mph.

Thursday Night

Mostly clear, with a low around 36. South wind 5 to 7 mph.

Friday

Sunny, with a high near 62. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph.
