OGDENSBURG — City Council added the Ogdensburg Journal to its list of designated papers.
The city has also designated the North Country This Week and the Watertown Daily Times as designated papers.
The designation allows the Journal to accept legal advertisements from the city.
The action raised some concern from Deputy Mayor John Rishe who said such designations are generally done at the January meeting.
However the vote was unanimous with agreement by council to include the paper as at least though the end of 2021.
The Journal, which is owned by the Johnson News Corp., which also owns the Watertown Daily Times.
The paper, which was once a daily shutdown two years ago, but will return as weekly paper with a Thursday publication date in June.
