MASSENA — For the sixth consecutive year, members of the Massena Rotary Club have contributed at least $1,500 toward Rotary International’s ongoing efforts to eradicate polio worldwide.

Past District Governor and Massena Rotary Foundation Chair Sue Bellor shared a certificate from Rotary District 7040 recognizing the club’s contribution with Massena Rotary Club President Pat Brady. Club members take pride in their continued commitment to supporting the global fight against this preventable disease.

Rotary International launched its PolioPlus program in 1985 with the goal of eradicating polio worldwide. Since its inception, the initiative has helped reduce polio cases by more than 99.9% and supported the vaccination of more than 3 billion children in 122 countries. Rotary also works with global partners, including the World Health Organization and UNICEF, through the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.

In addition to their financial contributions, Massena Rotarians marked World Polio Day on Oct. 24 by participating in activities promoting health and wellness, including walking, hiking, bicycling and exercise.

The club’s annual contributions and participation in World Polio Day reflect its continued commitment to Rotary’s mission of improving health and making a difference in communities around the world.
