MASSENA — New York Power Authority (NYPA) crews are scheduled to remove docks and buoys along the St. Lawrence River in the vicinity of the St. Lawrence–FDR Power Project beginning the week of Oct. 19.
Starting that week, docks and buoys will be removed from the following locations:
The Town and Village of Waddington:
Town of Louisville:
Town of Massena:
The fall removal of the docks is planned annually to ensure they are removed before frost or ice forms on the dock surfaces.
This seasonal action is necessary to protect workers and prevent damage to boats, docks and buoys during periods of sub-freezing temperatures.
The seasonal docks are part of thousands of acres of parkland along the St. Lawrence River that NYPA owns and maintains.
The parkland includes multi-use public trails—from Leishman’s Point to Barnhart Island — and community facilities such as Whitaker Park in Waddington, which features baseball fields, playgrounds and pickleball courts.
NYPA will notify the public when the docks and buoys are scheduled to be reinstalled in spring 2027.
