“Nature & Networking” at the Indian Creek Nature Center on April 29

CANTON — The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce and the St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency are hosting a new event, “Nature & Networking” at the Indian Creek Nature Center at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 29.

"The Chamber is known for our robust networking opportunities, and we had to put that on pause in 2020. We are really looking forward to being together again for this new monthly series, brought to you in a safe and unique way,” said Ben Dixon, STLC Chamber Executive Director.

The event serves as an in-person, outdoor networking opportunity, which member business owners and managers are encouraged to attend. Attendees will split up into small groups for a 'walk & talk' on the Nature Center’s trail system. Each group will have a trail host and the topic of discussion for the evening will be 'Workforce Needs.’

The host organizations seek to learn more about the workforce needs and issues businesses face in the current economy, and provide an opportunity for businesses to share successes and challenges surrounding today's workforce.

Participants may arrive at 4:30 p.m. to learn more about the Nature Center and its trail network from Indian Creek Nature Center board members. The walk and talk event will begin at 5 p.m. and run until 6 p.m. As a perk of the experience, Indian Creek is one of the trails included in the new Great 8 Nature Nuts Challenge, which will launch in May. Individuals can begin to log their trails on www.STLCtrails.com

Masks are required for the event. No food or drink will be provided on site. Participants should wear good shoes/boots and a jacket layer. A $5 entrance fee (cash or check) applies. Door prizes will be provided at the end of the event! People interested in participating, but not walking will be able to network under the pavilion.

Indian Creek Nature Center is located at 770 County Road 14, just outside the Village of Rensselaer Falls. The primary trailhead is located at the end of the 0.3-mile gravel Indian Creek Nature Center access drive. Toilets, a picnic pavilion, and parking are available there.

To register, go to www.slcchamber.org and look for the Nature & Networking event under the “Upcoming Business Development Programs & Chamber Events” section.
