POTSDAM — A Massena man was charged Tuesday stemming from a motor vehicle accident last fall on Leroy Street, according to village police.

Jeffrey P. Brown, 40, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, operating out of ignition interlock restrictions and unsafe tires, officers said.

Brown was arrested by other law enforcement and turned over to Potsdam police on a warrant, officers said.

Police said Brown was not charged at the time of the accident because he was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries and could not be located.

Brown was cited and released on tickets returnable to Potsdam court Sept. 11, police said.
