CANTON – Rochester Regional Health’s St. Lawrence team welcomes Andrea Bonno, NP, as its newest Endocrinology team member. She is treating patients at the St. Lawrence Health Medical Campus, 6119 US Route 11, Canton. 

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Bonno earned her Master of Family Nurse Practitioner degree at the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute, Utica, NY. While working on her master’s, and undergraduate Registered Nursing degrees, Bonno completed many of her clinical rotations through Canton-Potsdam Hospital (CPH) and its associated health centers. 

She began her career as a nurse at CPH in 2018 in the Medical-Surgical Unit, and then transitioned to the Labor & Delivery Department.  

“After working as a Registered Nurse for St. Lawrence Health for the last six years, I decided I wanted to continue my education and pursue a higher level of nursing. I further want to provide the next degree of care to patients within my community,” Bonno said.

“My goal as a new advanced practice provider is to build trusting relationships with my patients, practice patient-centered care, use evidence-based materials in my decision making, and educate patients on their health and care plans. I am overjoyed to be staying within Rochester’s St. Lawrence Region, and continuing to build relationships with patients and colleagues on a provider level,” she added. 

As a North Country native and resident, Bonno may look familiar to many of her former and new patients. While working in local healthcare offices during her training, she had already started forming connections with many area individuals. 

“During that time, I was able to start creating relationships and the trust process with my St. Lawrence patients. I am looking forward to serving those with Endocrinology needs throughout the surrounding communities,” she noted. 

As a Nurse Practitioner in the Endocrinology team, Bonno specializes in diagnosing and treating disorders related to the glands and diseases such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, growth disorders, obesity, infertility, adrenal issues, pituitary, and hormonal issues. Her main goal is to restore balance to her patients’ hormone systems.
