GOUVERNEUR -- A Gouverneur man allegedly fled police on a stolen bicycle Tuesday, July 2 and was later jailed on separate charges, according to village police.
John J. Baker, 32, was charged with petit larceny and resisting arrest after allegedly stealing a RoadMaster mountain bicycle on Park St. from a porch.
While attempting to arrest Baker, he fled police on the bike after stating "not today" to police officers, Gouverneur police said.
Baker was arraigned in front of Judge Dann and released on own recognizance, but remanded to the Saint Lawrence County Correctional Facility on a warrant from state police.
He was jailed on $1,500 bail related to those charges, officers said.
