OGDENSBURG -- The Fort La Présentation Association will host “Le Siege” on Van Rensselaer Point in Ogdensburg, on July 20 and 21. French and Indian War re-enactors from across the northeastern US and Canada together with period craftspeople will provide guests with a glimpse of life the St. Lawrence Valley in the 1760’s.

Le Siege is a reenactment of the historic Battle of the Thousand Islands that took place just downstream from the International Bridge on Chimney Island. For three days in August of 1760, a small force comprised of French marines and militia held out against a British armada of 10,000 sailors, soldiers and colonial militia. The battle marked the last battle of the French and Indian War in North America.

Visitors to Le Siege will encounter historic re-enactors engaged in activities of daily life including cooking over an open fire, colonial anglers, a blacksmith, shop owners, sailors and soldiers.

Popular historic musician Linda Russell will entertain visitors and there will be games for children and adults.

An historic battle reenactment will be presented on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Commentary will be provided by St. Lawrence County Legislator Jim Reagen, author of Warriors of Fort Présentation.

The gates open at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The admission price is $5 for adults and $2 for children (ages 6-16).

Free admission for children on Sunday with paid adults.
