Laurel Ann Paquin, 81, Massena

MASSENA - Laurel Ann Paquin, 81, a resident of Taylor Avenue, passed away on Thursday morning (September 5, 2024) at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, NY.

Friends and family may call on Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home in Massena, with services to follow. Interment will be held at the Visitation Cemetery in Norfolk. 

Laurel was born on November 4, 1942 in Massena the daughter of Raymond and Ellen (LaComb) LaRouech. She married Fernand (“Archie”) Paquin on April 18, 1959 at St. Mary's Church.

Laurel spent about 40 years in the restaurant industry. She then went to work in St. Regis Nursing Home and then home healthcare, as she loved taking care of elderly, including her mother and father in their later years.

Laurel was also an avid volunteer in the community, having volunteered for a number of years with Massena Memorial Hospital and Back the Pack, a project that delivered weekend snack packs to children. 

Laurel deeply cherished her cat, Abby, and loved spending time playing with her and snuggling with her by her side. She enjoyed the moments spent visiting with family and friends and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren laugh and play. She especially enjoyed her daily coffee visits with her close friends on Taylor Ave.   

She is survived by her children, James F. and Debbie of Massena; Rebecca and Mark Richardson of Central Square, NY; MaryEllen Ladison of Louisville, NY; Christina Harrison of Conway, SC; Trudy Miller of Plattsburgh, NY; Mark R. Paquin of Massena, as well as 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving Laurel are several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Ellen LaRouech, her husband, Fernand Paquin, her brother, Gary LaRouech, and her son-in-law, Bruce Ladison.
