WADDINGTON - Judith A. Buchardt, age 79, passed away unexpectedly at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital early Thursday morning on September 24, 2026. Calling hours for Judy will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the Phillips Memorial Home located at 28 Clinton Street in Waddington from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and 5:00pm to 7:00pm. A Funeral service for Judy will be held 10:00am on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Waddington United Methodist Church with Pastor Donna Fitchette and Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Burial to follow funeral services in Brookside Cemetery, Waddington.
Judy was born to the late Charles and Irene (Myers) Dezell in Canton, NY, on March 27, 1947. She had attended Madrid-Waddington Schools graduating in 1965. She continued her education at the Watertown School of Commerce where she obtained a secretarial degree. She married Bruce Buchardt in Waddington in 1968. The marriage later ended in divorce. She was employed at one time with Mater Dei College in Ogdensburg, NY, as a secretary and later for SUNY Potsdam, retiring in 2014 after 8 years of service.
Judy was a lifelong member of the Waddington United Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. In her pastime Judy enjoyed doing puzzles, spending time with her canine companions and crocheting. Her most fond memories were spent traveling, to England, Hawaii and throughout the United States. Judy’s happiest memories were, without a doubt, anything involving her grandchildren- whether watching their sports from baseball to football to horseback riding or just spending time talking with them.
She is survived by her loving children Jason A. and wife Tracy Buchardt of Lisbon, NY, a daughter Brandi and husband Gary Dalton of Elgin, SC. Judy is also survived by her grandchildren, Trey and wife Peyton Hodgon, Alani, Evan, Jaric, and Kullen Buchardt, Teegan Dalton and step-granddaughter Kassy Race, and great-grandchildren Wesley, Beckett and Ivy, along with numerous cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents.
