John E. Moulton, 80, Madrid

MADRID - John E. Moulton, age 80, passed away from a brief illness at the University Medical Center in Burlington, VT surrounded by his family.

The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, in Madrid, NY.

Calling hours for John will be held on Sunday afternoon (July 14, 2024) from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and evening, from 6:00 to 8:00pm.

Funeral services for John will be held 10:00am on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Phillips Memorial Home in Madrid with Pastor Richard Lenz officiating.

Burial to take place at Madrid Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Madrid Community Building.

John was born in Potsdam, NY to the late George and Olive (Chatell) Moulton on June 29, 1944.

John attended school in Madrid-Waddington and graduated in 1961.

He worked on the family dairy farm and later purchased it from his father where he continued farming until the mid-90s’.

He then worked for Fuji Film Corporation driving and delivering film throughout the North Country, as a drug and alcohol counselor for North Country Freedom Homes, and for Dave Tyo as a limo driver.

He was married to Marianne Carnal in 1966 at the Nevin Memorial Church in Lisbon, NY. The marriage later ended in divorce.

In his past time, John enjoyed participating in tractor-pulls around the North Country with his John Deere 6030, spending time at camp building his home and on his boat.

John is survived by a daughter, Lisa and husband, Scott Flack of Macedon, NY, a son, Brian and wife, Megan Moulton of Madrid, NY, and many foster children including, Charlie Rafter, Clifford Rafter, David Burns, Alton Geer, Steve Boutot, Scott Simons and John Lavare.

He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Michael Wright, Melinda and husband, William Cornwell, Annie Fuller, Tyler and Trevor Moulton. John is also survived by great-grandchildren; Katrina, William Jr., Jaiden and Glorianna, along with nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, Great-great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by two sons, Joseph L. and Jonathan E. Moulton, a brother, Earl Pete Moulton, a sister, Georgia and brother-in-law, Hubert Brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be shared with The JoElla Craig Fund; P.O. Box 382, Canton, NY 13617. All donations received are used for children in St. Lawrence County foster care for any needs that would not otherwise be covered.
