Gerald was born on June 5, 1935, in Lisbon, NY, the son of the late Percy T. and Iva I. Robinson Carr. He graduated from Lisbon Central School in 1953. Gerald married Marilyn Powers on July 31, 1954 in Lisbon, NY. He first went to work on the St. Lawrence Seaway project, working on the Iroquois Dam. He later worked for McConville Electric and the Bridge & Port Authorithy before starting at the Niagara Mohawk Power. Starting as a groundman, working his way to a travelling operator working on the hydro dams.
He found true joy in the outdoors, whether fishing, hunting, boating, or spending time at his beloved river camp in Red Mills and mountain retreat at Azure Mountain. A man of lively spirit, he loved to tinker with his hands, fill the room with song and dance, and stay active in the community as a member of the Moose Lodge.
An extraordinary athlete and lifelong sports enthusiast, he played baseball in high school—earning a scout’s eye from the New York Yankees—and later took the field for the Hearthstone Inn in the Slo-pitch softball league. His passion for the game was matched by his
unwavering loyalty as a devoted Yankees fan, an avid follower of football, and a faithful supporter of the Boston Bruins. Above all, his heart belonged to college hockey, where he proudly cheered on St. Lawrence University as a dedicated season ticket holder.
